This short but extremely busy flight path through the American Southwest takes travelers from Phoenix (PHX) to Las Vegas (LAS) and is used in abundance for trips between the two most traveled cities of the American Southwest. The route is widely popular with leisure travelers looking for the gaming and entertainment attractions of Las Vegas, as well as conventions and business events throughout the city. This route serves as a hub for Southwest Airlines and American Airlines in the Southwest, whereas Las Vegas is considered to be one of the busiest leisure-driven cities in the United States. The path of travel for this route is approximately 255 miles long, one of the shortest of all commercial flight paths available in the Southwest, and will take approximately just under one hour to fly. The price for the short route can be volatile due to conventions and high weekend demand for flights.

Unlike cities with several commercial airports to choose from in each direction of the route, Las Vegas has only one commercial airport, so no airline switching for cost benefits.
Seasonal pricing is influenced much less by seasons and more by the booking schedules and event calendars of Las Vegas. However, traditional seasons are considered for the fares on this route as well.
Convention Season Begins. There may be sharp price hikes in the month of January due to major conventions such as the Consumer Electronics Show, attracting a mass audience right after the New Year.
Stable fares. Business travel, along with leisure travel, remains constant during the winter to spring months and generally moderates when there isn't an event occurring.
Summer and Travel. The fares can remain steady with some drops during the weekdays for the summer months due to the high heat in both Phoenix and Las Vegas.
Convention and Event Increase. The late fall months tend to draw more business trips and conventions, along with other major events, causing fare prices to be on the rise.
Post-holiday, pre-New Year's slowdown. This is the period to look for discounts as the year starts to wind down, but holiday travelers haven't begun to take flights to Las Vegas.
Holiday & New Year's Peak. Flights may spike during this period due to a surge of travelers arriving to spend the holidays, particularly New Year's Eve, in Las Vegas.
